This project involves the sensitive incorporation of a large ‘L’ shaped extension to the rear of a relatively small, traditional, bungalow; addition of a dormer extension over the existing property; and replacement of an existing conservatory to form a ‘Garden Room’; all resulting in the creation of a large four bedroom ‘Dormer Bungalow’.
The main ‘arm’ of the ‘L’ shaped extension incorporates a, double height, ‘Lounge’ space, with a double height glazed screen wall affording maximum benefit from the surrounding rural views.
This double height, ‘open plan’ space then ‘flows’ past a centrally located fireplace, into a ‘Dining Room’. The double height fireplace/chimney breast construction serves to provide a degree of definition to the ‘open-plan’ ‘Lounge’ / ‘Dining Room’ spaces, while additionally serving to mark a transition between the double height ‘Lounge’ space and the single storey height ‘Dining Room’.
This ‘Dining Room’ space is located under a first floor galleried ‘Dressing Room’ and ‘En suite Bathroom’, which serve a ‘Master Bedroom’, as located in the dormer space of the single storey second ‘arm’ of the ‘L’ shaped extension, with a large ‘Kitchen’ located at ground floor level.
The addition of this extension results in the formation of an external ‘Courtyard’, which is protected from wind by a fully glazed screen wall. Direct access to this protected external space is achieved from both ‘Kitchen and ‘Lounge’ spaces.
In addition to this new extension, two bedrooms as located in the existing bungalow, have been re-located into the dormer extension over the existing property and over a small in-fill extension to the existing garage, both new bedroom have been provided with ‘En Suite Bathrooms’
